Coin Design

• Obverse – The obverse features the effigy of King Charles III, designed by award-winning portrait artist Martin Jennings. Surrounding the effigy are the inscriptions "CHARLES III," "D.G. REX F.D." (Latin for "By the Grace of God, King, Defender of Faith"), and the coin's denomination.
• Reverse – The reverse features Benedetto Pistrucci's legendary Saint George and the Dragon design, first introduced in 1817. A symbol of triumph and courage, this intricate design remains one of the most celebrated works in numismatic history. It’s a classic image of good vs evil, with St. George on his horse over a dying dragon with a spear in his hand broken off in the struggle. It’s considered the most beautiful design to ever grace British coinage. Pistrucci's initials are also inscribed near the date.

Shield Privy Mark

This coin features a special shield privy mark, making it a true standout. The privy mark commemorates the 200th anniversary of Jean Baptiste Merlen's iconic Hanoverian Royal Arms design first seen on the 1825 "shield back" Sovereign. The shield is a tribute to the Sovereign's role as a trusted symbol of strength and stability across the globe for more than 500 years.

Limited Mintage

The 2025 Silver Sovereign Proof with the Shield Privy has an extremely limited mintage of just 15,000 with the special shield privy mark. Additionally, half of the mintage for this coin is restricted to Great Britain, making it even rarer for collectors outside the UK.
