When the Royal Australian Mint’s Kangaroo Series first hopped onto the scene in 1993 it was met with instant acclaim. The Eternal Kangaroo Leaves Quite An Impression

Originally created by Horst Hahne, a German-born Australian sculptor, medalist, designer, and former Chief Engraver at the Royal Australian Mint until his retirement in 1999, the design for this special 30th Anniversary edition showcases a single kangaroo captured in mid-leap. A tiny “C” mintmark appears between the graceful marsupial’s legs to denote the Royal Australian Mint’s Canberra facility as the place of minting.
